Section 01

How points-tested migration works

Several countries choose skilled migrants using a points test. You earn points for things such as your age, English ability, qualifications and work experience, and you must have an occupation the country needs.

1. Check your occupation

Your occupation must be on the relevant list, and you may need a skills assessment from an approved body.

2. Improve your score where you can

A better English test result or more relevant work experience can raise your points. Your adviser can show which steps make the biggest difference for you.

Section 02

Timelines and what to prepare

Processing times change often, so plan with some flexibility. Gather your identity documents, qualifications, employment references and English test results early, and keep them up to date.
