Legal definition & framework

What is an International Schooling Visa?

A schooling visa is a government-issued study permit that lets foreign minor students (aged 6 to 18) enrol in registered primary, intermediate or secondary schools. Unlike adult visas, schooling visas require strict welfare and accommodation arrangements, and allow eligible parents or legal guardians to come along on a guardian visa.

Admission & immigration criteria

Mandatory Schooling Prerequisites

The legal, financial and academic documents usually needed for a schooling visa.

  • 1. Academic Dossier

Schools look at past results and conduct:

    • Past 2–3 years of school report cards and mark sheets.
    • Principal or headmaster recommendation letter.
    • Official English birth registration certificate.
    • AEAS test results or the school’s own maths and English test.
  • 2. Financial Capacity Proof

Proof of funds must show money that is available and clearly earned:

    • One year of tuition plus living costs for the student and guardian.
    • Bank statements held steadily for several months.
    • Tax returns and proof of business or employment income.
  • 3. Genuine Student Intent

A clear reason for the move and the family’s circumstances:

    • A statement of purpose from the parents explaining the choice of school.
    • Evidence of strong ties to Bangladesh (property, career, assets).
    • A plan for the next step into university.
  • 4. Health, Character & Welfare

Medical checks and proof of who looks after the child:

    • Medical examination at an approved panel clinic in Dhaka.
    • Overseas student health cover for the whole stay.
    • Childhood immunisation records translated into English.
    • Police clearance for the accompanying adult guardian.

Strategic lifetime value

The Long Term Dividend
of Early Overseas Schooling

Schooling abroad brings lasting gains in language, confidence and future options that are hard to match by moving at university age.

  1. 01

    No Foundation Year Needed

Finishing ATAR, NCEA Level 3 or A-Levels usually allows direct entry into bachelor’s degrees, without a separate foundation year.

  2. 02

    Native English Fluency

Students who start young often become fluent and confident in English, and many universities accept local school results instead of an IELTS score.

  3. 03

A Head Start on the Future

Students who finish school abroad know the country, its universities and its way of life, which helps with later study and career plans.

  4. 04

    Character & Leadership

School life includes debating, performing arts, robotics and sport, building confident and self-disciplined young people.

  5. 05

    Family Unity & Relocation

With a guardian visa, a parent can live with the child abroad and look after their health, wellbeing and growth.

  6. 06

    Cost Efficiency via Malaysia

Malaysia has campuses of well-known British schools at a lower overall cost than studying in the UK.

Crucial Advice for Bangladeshi Parents

Avoid common refusals and delays with these preparation steps.

  1. 1

    Prepare Funds 6–8 Months Ahead

High commissions look for a clear source of money. Avoid sudden large deposits, and keep savings and business records steady for at least six months before applying.

  2. 2

    Bilingual Birth Registration

Make sure the child’s birth certificate matches the parents’ passports letter for letter, including middle names. Any difference should be explained in a notarised affidavit.

  3. 3

    Chartered Accountant Net Worth

A chartered accountant’s net worth report, with three years of income tax returns, shows a steady and lasting income.

  4. 4

    Align Academic Intake Calendars

Australian and New Zealand schools start in late January or early February; Malaysian and British schools in August or September. Start school applications about nine months before.

  5. 5

    Guardian Visa Strategy

When a parent applies as guardian, show living funds for both the student and the parent, and that family members staying in Bangladesh are provided for.

  6. 6

    English Bridging & AEAS Prep

Prepare for the AEAS test, or plan a few months of intensive English before joining regular classes.
